About 2500 - 300 fuel monthly. Between 300-500 miles a day. Driver would be home every night. Would be away from home 12-14 hours a day. Northeast area.

Yes it's his truck, you pay him 80% or better and all you do is dispatch him, that's the only way I would do it otherwise you could just as well own the truck and he just be an employee.

Whatever the two of you agree to, I'd be inclined to say just pay him good, 60-65cpm, 10 bucks a car for loading and unloading and he's responsible for his own health insurance and retirement other than what you are required to withhold for social security and taxes naturally, but then benefits has never meant anything to me.

With you supplying everything but the truck. I would. It think that he would get more than 75%. In most owner op situations that I am aware of. The guys that own the truck, trailer and all of the expenses only get 85%. I wouldn’t think he should get even the 75%.

Power only, you owning the trailer should pay him 70% or so, assuming he is responsible for fuel and repairs on the truck.

If you are going to employ him and take all responsibility for the truck, fuel and maintenance while he retains ownership then it should pay wages of at least $1,500 on the W2 and a reasonable fee for use of the tractor. This is a very complicated situation.

Why not just buy his truck uf he wants to be an employee driver? By the way, I have a truck and 7 car trailer for sale, ready to go. 2014 Miller 7 car, self contained, short neck. One owner/driver since new. Also have a 2000 Mack tractor available, no ELD required (1999 engine). $50,000 for the combo or $40,000 for just the trailer, located in northeastern Pennsylvania. Delivery available.

This is what I would do if his truck your trailer: he gets 75% gross you get 25%. He pays all his truck expenses: fuel, registration, insurance, repair/maintenance.... you pay your trailer expenses. You dispatch him loads and you pay him regardless whether you get paid from the shippers (kind a like factoring you guarantee his pay). This setup is very simple, you just total all the jobs that have been done over a period of time (weekly, bi-weekly) and pay him. It's a 1099 deal, of course he will be responsible for any and all damages to the loads or your trailer.

I’m trying to PM you about the trailer but it says I’m unable to. What’s the best private way to contact you?
