I saw that video, and for the most part it is correct. You can avoid having money taken from you for Idle time if you are responsive and stay very pro active with it. Overall...it's a crap policy and I hated it.

Actually, for the most part it is NOT true, at least in my case. I never once had an issue and I idled whenever I needed to.

That said, I can think of a few other reasons that might land them on that list. Lol

If you’re a company driver and you are being charged for fuel then maybe it’s time to leave that company. If it was out of route miles, maybe I could see that, but not every time. That just doesn’t make any sense at all.

They're talking about being charged for excessive idling over a set idling percentage. It's the same old story being regurgitated over and over again on the internet. I never had an issue with excessive idling during the summer either. I just made a notation and sent in a message to my DM. They took of it and I wasn't charged.

Even then, I don’t know of any other company that does that. None of the companies I worked for did that. They would just send a notice on the Qualcomm warning about the high idle and ask if there was an issue with the bunk heater or APU (where applicable).

I understand that. May doesn't have apu's, but they do have bunk heaters. So, the issue for them is when drivers are just over idling to over idle. You know, like the myriad of drivers who are idling all night long in 50/60 degree weather.

If it's your truck, have at it. If it's my truck, I'm watching the fuel consumption as well as the problems over idling creates on these newer emissions motors.

If it it's legitimate, there's no problem.

Not saying I agree or disagree with their practice. However, context is necessary sometimes ;-)

No. Taking advantage of marginalized drivers because they're easier to keep under their boot makes them a bad company. Feeding a starving person a plate of #### and then telling them they ought be grateful doesn't make you a good person. You wanna be a good person? Offer that same guy a steak. Really rehabilitate him, don't just become his new prison.

If you really want to go the extra mile, you offer them a Kentuckian.

The 2 years I was there I only got charged once. I think it also may depend on your terminal . It's nearly impossible to keep it under their 45% required idle in the summer..I think it was used more as a deterrent for excessive idling. If I was charged more than a couple of more times I would have left a lot sooner. The.far greater problem they have is their crappy pay. They are too busy recruiting at prisons...
