Fuel Card actually worked without a phone call? That’s amazing!! Good sign Lol. Rolling now!! I see a big screen TV and a Hot Tub on the horizon. Good Luck. May the Repair Gods go easy on you.
Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

Spoke to the accountant today. Added up all my recurring expenses, and figured 7 MPG. Looks like I will need to drive about 1000 miles a week to pay for all recurring expenses. Including health insurance and my storage unit.
That does not include food or maintenance expenses, of course. Or taxes. But it is a very low bar to meet, considering that I run around 3000 miles a week on average. (250k miles in the last 21 months.)Jarhed1964 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Well, at Crete, the O/O's turn in paperwork by Monday midnight for settlement that same Friday.
This week was partial. I started on 1/10 but due to delays, only drove half a day that day.
So, 4.5 days driving and 2277 actual miles on this settlement. Paid miles were a little less than that. I did have one of our rare 2 drop loads (1 live unload, 1 drop and hook.) I think they routed the load backwards for mileage. Will talk to someone about it tomorrow.
My pay per mile loaded and empty are the same on the account, but for completeness's sake, I had 106 empty miles out of 2277.
We shall see what Friday brings.Jarhed1964, Mooseontheloose and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Forgot to mention that my PeopleGarbage machine chose to barf all over itself today and stop sending me load assignment data. An extra 30 minute break there that I didn't need or want.

An easy way to figure fixed costs for Me at first. Was to base all fixed costs on 80% of actual average. In your case 2400 miles.Any miles ran over that amount,is gravy ( minus only fuel and maintenance). Helped Me stay in budget. Nowadays I don’t worry about any of it. Just looking at my last quarter here. Been getting Lazy. $35,465. Need to put my nose to the grindstone for a while. Till summer anyway. You should be at or close to $50 k per qtr gross running the way You do. It’s almost a no brained, you’ll succeed, don’t let those Shops scare you into unneeded work. Their real good at making everything sound scary. A lot of stuff can be done yourself. Not that hard.

If the weather holds up, I will hopefully be averaging 3000 miles per full week.
We shall see!
EDIT : I now see (and recognize) what you said. 80% of my average miles is about 2400 miles per week. I missed that on my first response.Last edited: Jan 15, 2019
