There just seems like there is an increase lately in the “Rip the driver off” business. It’s a business now. Legally taking advantage of drivers and taking their money. Eastern Europeans found out about it and they’ve also jumped on the rip the driver off, bandwagon. This forum is chock full of horror stories about trucking companies — large and small, that systematically and deliberately rob drivers of money. It’s so pervasive in our industry that there is a culture where taking money from drivers is considered a legitimate business. This is what we’ve come to.
Companies structure their contracts where the drivers ability to earn is almost that of someone gambling at a casino. The house always wins.
READ THE CONTRACT. If you’re not familiar with the legal vernacular then fax or email a copy to OOIDA, they’ll translate it for you.
To give you some example of the nefarious nature of these companies, I’ve uploaded a contract by a trucking company owned by Russians from Florida with roots in Chicago, who set up shop in the Carolinas. This company was known by two different names in the pastLast edited: Jan 11, 2019

Notice the fees and fines for virtually everything. And a $2500 escrow on top of that. This is a standard 1099 contractor contract that most of the Eastern European companies have.
The lease purchase companies like Hurricane Express and RTS structure their contracts a little differently but the end result is the same. The companies have figured out a way to rob drivers of their hard earned money, and oh my lord how the money flows. At some point I’ll be sending emails to 60 minutes or 20/20 or one of those investigative News Shows. Someone has gotta expose these people on how they exploit truck drivers.
Ultimately though, I’m afraid the ball is In the drivers court. If he refuses to read the contract then who’s to blame?Attached Files:

I was averaging 16k miles a month. how? my eld never worked and the penske trucks I had didn't have one so I was on paper logs, going from Washington to Georgia! they don't care.
