    Hello everyone,

I own 3 26ft box trucks with drivers ready to head out. My MC authority will be active next week. Where do I go from here?

I need access to load boards, dispatcher, ELD, GPS, etc..

    PS,
I have no background in trucking at all.

www.OOIDA.com is a business website for owner-operators and small fleet owners and has load board information.
@Ridgeline posted a website in the past about expediters I think it was, that uses box trucks.

Sign up for DAT loadboard and start calling brokers.

Also there is a 3PL company called ProTrans that moves tons of freight on box trucks and sprinters. Look them up onlinevand call them to see about getting set up as a carrier. Based on the rates that I see posted for box trucks, its going to be tough. Youre looking at operating expenses that are roughly equivalent to a semi truck and the freight pays half as much (because you can only haul half as much). Good luck.

Try and get some direct customers, put your Sunday bests on and start knocking on doors... You may have put the cart before the horse, but with perseverance, dedication to the process and being willing to take a thousand No's to every maybe, it could work out. I used to have a couple of straight vans that I ran local hauling air freight LA - San Diego, took me a while but ultimately I had 3 trucks/drivers that didn't need dispatching they just knew to load up at the customer and head to San Diego 5 days a week. Spot market may work for you for a while, but you'll always be at the mercy of brokers whims, go knock on those doors and good luck, it sounds like you will need a heavy reserve of it. Good onya for giving it a go.

First question is why did you even bother to get into this if you have no background in trucking?

This is more or less the absolute worst place to start in this industry, it is at the bottom of the rate list.

Go to expeditersonline.com someone there may help you with this.
