The good trainers I had knew how many rpms to drop before going in gear. Granted I drove a pickup at the time with a 5 speed so shifting wasnt a issue. Backing wasnt a issue as I haul farm tractors on a 5th wheel so that was moot as well. Alas you wont get many of us old farts with prior experience.

The class I had also didnt show people how to slide tandems. So yeah, expect that.
    -----------------------------------------------------
The snow report is as follows
We had 7 inches fall Saturday night into Sunday. Plowed the drive way around 8am. Truck only saw light rain in the afternoon. The headache was this morning. Seems we had some more snow and just enough rain after. So the plow truck had a 2 inch thick shell of snow on it. I mangaed to chise a hole to the air vent and idled the truck for two hours to get the base of the ice to melt. Alas the plow couldnt get through what ever is in the drive or the road. I could clear the plow curl at the end as there was salt in the snow.

The fun part is it is supposed to be rain and 40F Tuesday and Wednesday. The climate change here is a wild ride. I hope the rest of you arent froze in. I feel fofr the people that have cars where the top of their car window touches door frame rubber. I know there will be alot of broken windows today folks.

One last thing I wanted to impart. A old timer up here told me some time ago.... "If your door frame freezes in the winter? Use some spray on furniture polish on the sealing rubber. The wax in the polish will keep the ice from gluing the door shut"

Well, I'm laying in another day....

......they gave my truck to someone else, who apparently was already under a load.

"We had a lot of breakdowns today" was the reason given.

Of course, out of the twenty or so trucks parked at the yard when I got home Saturday, only four had their block heater plugged in, including mine.

Well, gotta go find some cheese to go with this whine......

Perhaps you were the only one left with the block heater and that is why they took your truck?

I don't have a thermometer here but weather forecast shows it's in the teens now and with wind chill effect it feels like -1F... they say it's going to be 4F tonight.... This poor bunk heater is working hard but the cab is not as warm as I would like... :biggrin_25513:
