I thought flatnose was a name for cabover. I didn't think you were starting a poop storm. Have a good one.

Ok. Rickety may have been a harsh adjective. It's just that particular style of Freightliner that I see is always in ruff shape. I'm sure yours was a reliable tractor what with it being a manual transmission and not laden with all those danged computers.

I think work ethic and determination are the top 2 attributes needed. I do flatbed and mostly long hauling Texas to New England. I can pull $250-280k gross a year. I’m not even in the top 3 earners for my company. 8 years ago I worked for a packaging company and always chatted up the movers when they stop by to buy supplies. I know some of them made insane bank. Though hometome was literally a few times a year.

Even 3,200 miles a week at 1.25 a mile is over $200k a year. It’s not that hard to make more. But we are talking gross here and expenses can get high. When I leave my house I try really hard to average $1,000 gross per full working day but in the winter it’s so hard to get. That’s my goal. I also sit a few times if rates are too low.

I was thinking about hauling tankers but I only have 13 months of experience. Can't find anyone to hire me yet. But seen a guy driving only 5yrs bring home 90k after taxes and he's out every other day.

How much did you make last year and what are these benefits that you are talking about?

    That's niche marketing.

I have crane vans, they make a crap load of money, some dh is 1000 miles and they are paid 100% for that move. When the economy takes a real hit, those drivers don't always get the niche work.

Lot of tank companies will hire you. Try Superior or Trimac.
