Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

Okay. Got the results for my engine oil analysis today. No red flags, the oil indicates a healthy engine.

Now, that means that either some efficiency settings were wiped by Crete as part of the o/o conversion when they set the truck up with the new governor settings, or the change is environmental due to the severe cold and increased top speed, or there might be something wrong that an oil analysis wont pick up.

The air filter is new now, so that isn't it.

I have noticed that the opti idle has been running heavily. It is possible that the cold weather is getting to the batteries. It is also possible that Crete raised the temperature at which the opti idle will activate to warm the block. If the default factory setting is higher than the Crete corporate setting, that might explain it.

I will start looking for a good place to combine a 34 with a battery inspection/test and possibly a dyno and/or a check in the programming for potential efficiency settings.

 

In addition, I called Crete today and they say that they have no way to add gallon totals to line items for fuel purchases. I will have to manually calculate.

I pulled a recent transaction on the Loves web page:

On 1/25 I purchased 131.734 gallons of fuel in the Loves Mifflinville, PA location.

Cost on receipt: 464.89
Cash price per gallon: 3.53

My settlement cost: 381.51
My cost per gallon: 2.90

So I saved 61 cents per gallon over cash price on 131 gallons fuel.

I'll take that. Granted, I do not know if that is a representative discount, or how it is calculated.

Now, I am not going to screw around and do all the digging and downloading required to get old receipts, then try and do an analysis to see if I can figure out how the calculations are performed.

I have, however, started keeping receipts of fuel purchases. I can compare a paper receipt to my settlements pretty quickly, and will do so in the future, because it really DOES make sense to watch my discounts.

So, in a couple weeks, I will be able to easily provide multiple fuel cost data points, and I will do so. Poke me If I fail to do so.
