Who wants the title to a 700,000 mile emission truck? Im asking seriously. For me the answer to this entire thread is that question.

I do. It will be better than making payments on a 700k emission truck.

By the time I have title on this truck, I will likely be working o/o under the authority of a company that gives me access to a load board.

Then, if income is good, and repairs are moderate, ownership of a better, newer truck will be much easier to manage.

I understand what your doing and have tried my best to stay out of it. Just understand when your truck is paid off it will have the same value of a used Chevy Cruze.
I also don't think what your doing is wrong. Not trying to kill you.
Man, I don't see anything holding you back but yourself. I would spend the next three weeks getting my feet wet then jump to Landstar or the likes to finish up your training. Lol.
Your truck is nothing more than a tool. Get the most out of it while you can.

I don’t have the title to my truck, it’s at my local bank in South Dakota tucked away in my file.

OP, you’re running on a low mileage rate contract. Focusing on your expenses is the absolute best thing you can do right now since you can’t really increase your income. You’ll get the hang of things quicker than you think I have a feeling, and by summer you’ll be looking to make a change. You have a plan but blindly sticking to that plan just because is leaving an insane amount of money on the table. The faster you get away from a mileage based contract like this the better.

What kind of debate, mileage vs percentage contract?

Just kidding, couldn't resist the irony though ;-)

Better watch that DPF derating and forced regen stuff though.

So, I noticed OP is falling behind on projected miles of 3,500 miles a week.

In a mileage pay based contract, when you start falling behind the average you used originally to project revenue, costs & profit, how do you make up for those lost miles when the pay per mile is static?

This scenario is the old squirrel in the cage example. Once you start falling behind, you can't spin the wheel fast enough to catch back up.

Especially when the margins are so thin to start with...

Did I say 3500 per week average, or 3500 per week was a goal? I will look back.

I do not see where I claimed 3500 per week average. I have claimed around 3000-3100 miles per week fairly regularly though.

I am a little behind that number, but not enough that I am concerned. A couple good weeks will bring me up to 3000 average miles.

Winter weather and an abnormal cross-country trip with a couple live loads was enough to drop my numbers.

    Poop Happens.

My bad. I thought you were shooting for 3500 miles a week average.

3000 miles a week average (156,000 miles annually) is way easier to acheive ;-)
