I just graduated from trucking school. I went every Saturday because I have a full time job Monday-Friday.

I’m wondering how much can expect for my first OTR job?
    Right know I make $18.50.

If someone replies to your post with the introduction... “It all depends”...
Just know then that the pay leaves much to be desired.

Where you live (lanes in your area) have a lot of influence on the answer you are looking for, jsyk. ie: Florida, not so much. Illinois, sure. And so forth.

Unfortunately it's very hard to give a number, because everyone has different experiences.

You can have two people hired by the same company, on the same day, at the same location, and one does really well, while the other quits after six months. All because everyone has different expectations.

Generally speaking, with most OTR training companies, expect probably between $35k to $45k

I started OTR about two months ago (after 20 years as a motorcoach driver). I’ve been taking home between $800-1200 a week. If you think about what that is per hour, it kinda sucks. I’m in that truck either working or sleeping for six straight days.

Fortunately for me, I enjoy the work, and I know that the money will improve after my first year.

Expect to make $40k* your first year, work 70 hours, sit waiting another 20-30 hours. You will basically be a minimum wage employee working 100 hours a week, at least for your first year.

*varies a little, up and down

If that is the case, you are working for a company that leaves a lot to be desired.

Specialize. It doesn’t matter what, but look for a company that isn’t just a run of the mill ‘trucking’ company. It pays off.

You should be able to start off, with no experience, running a day cab, home daily, making....waaaaaay more than 40k/yr.

I made $70K my second second year out, but I never worked for an OTR company either.

Whatever you end up making, just remember that you are starting bat the bottom. Only place to go is up.
