Those rust trails from each lug nut might mean they arent exactly tight. I’d definitely get it fixed ASAP, and make sure it’s torqued to spec.

What an idiot. My Volvo has 9.5 out of 10 lug nuts at all times, at least. Sometimes I put 11 on there in case I lose one.

    Upinsmoke and Bakerman Thank this.

    Really?

it is acceptable to a DOT officer.

The rust trails are caused by the nuts rusting, nothing else. It is called oxidation.

Doesn’t look like a cap to me. But even if it were it’s legal to run them on the steer unless it’s a bus.

Wow, I didn’t realize you could tell the amount of torque on a lug nut from a picture. How much oil was used per stud? Would you say by the amount of threads showing that’s 450 ft lbs?

Hey it happens you fix it when you have time or if DOT shuts you down before you had a chance to fix it.
I don’t think it is a big deal, but that’s just me.

    jamespmack Thanks this.
