Hi you guys and gals! I have posted before and all of you have been very helpful....please tell me what I am doing wrong here?! I am so broke its ridiculous! Is trucking really suppose to be this way? I drove for super service when I started at .33 com, then got taken advantage of by prime as an attempt to recover what I lost during my first yr "bid" to make a name for myself. I am now with Danny Herman. Good company as far as how they treat me but good values and honesty unfortunately don't pay the bills.
I understand I won't get rich driving a truck but I am back to super service broke at .40 cpm. Can't seem to get out of the never ending cycle of pay advances here. I am buying food from Wal-Mart and personal items from dollar tree. I love the location they run. No northwest or northeast so no snow chains....is it like; The only way u make money enough to pay bills out here is if I run donners pass on ice? Cabbage mountain in a Blizzard? I'm lost. I let prime put me in the hole at home so bad I feel I will never recover. I'm just a single mom who wants to make a living for myself and my kids.
I have a great driving record. I love driving this 18 wheeler more than I have ever loved doing anything in my life. I live for the 3,000 miles + mark, when ur so tired u could cry. Its not making me enough money to stay. What do?
End my 2 year trucking career?!

Dan.S, Texas_hwy_287, Bob Dobalina and 2 others Thank this. -
Stop taking advances. They have fees, may not seem like a lot, after awhile it starts to add up.
UsualSuspect, Dan.S, Tb0n3 and 2 others Thank this. -
Why are you broke, what Bill's do you have, where is your money going, what are you spending money on that you really dont need.
Sit down figure that out then go from there -
If you have 2 years experience you should be making more than .40 cpm. New drivers in my area are getting at least .50 - .55 cpm or at least $20/hr.
BigDog Trucker, Dan.S, Canwil3565 and 2 others Thank this. -
When you say .40 cpm I’m just assuming you are a company driver. If you make 3000 miles a week that is a decent check for most people. Im not saying it is “big” but sure beats an hourly retail job several times over. Why are you having to take advances? Are you still paying Prime for something?

How much did you make last year as a truck driver?

The only way to get a handle on spending is to write down everything you spend, then figure out what can be cut. You must learn to live within your means.
Keep searching for the best job for you, it's out there. -
Start running loads to NYC.
