Is thinking original, or passed on from a Crete lease operator recruiter?

In reality, many of the tasks that a true independent owner operator have to perform, are not available to you as a lease operator.

Most of it is being done on the corporate side on your behalf...

    loudtom and Oxbow Thank this.

There are NO Crete lease operators. Period. You are company, or o/o.

The two things which ruin most small businesses are diarreah of the wallet, and lack of motivation.

If I control my finances and my time as an o/o working for a mega, i can be quite confident that i can do it when i leave them. There will be more to do for myself when I leave them, but if I can control my money and time, the chances of me failing are far less.

Who's authority are you operating under, yours, or Crete's?

If you signed a contract and their name is on YOUR truck, then you are by definition a leased operator.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

You DO have a LOT to learn! First thing is to STOP thinking like a company driver who is totally focused on miles LOL

One thing that goes unmentioned is that megas usually have contract freight that pays a bit less than what spot market paid last year.

Megas took a hit on a lot of the stuff they didn't have capacity for and had to broker out. A lot of stuff that was extra loads, I'm sure they spot quoted or at least asked for a little more so they don't take a huge loss, but for the most part these megas don't have all this high dollar freight. They would pay owner ops more if they could afford it in order to attract more capacity. But they feel the heat of competition as well, just like anyone.

But if these lease drivers, or owner ops who drive for them, would actually run their numbers and demand more, prices would have to go up.

That, and the companies that hire company drivers on a 1099 and run trashy equipment that can run for 20-25% cheaper than I, are running rates down just to keep their crap rolling.

Name on side does mean anything. It’s the dot numbers that count. I have my company name on truck and I’ll leased out to a mega.
