So I picked up a trailer and it needed an inspection. They said I could do it later on down the road. So 1700miles into my trip I get the inspection. Trailer fails because of cracked welds on icc bumper trailer side damage large bends no holes into interior and a tire.
I do my pretrips but this trailer is trash. The welds went from hair line to 1/16th of an inch. I knew the tire was bad but they didnt replace it. Now I'm getting chewed out by trip planner/fleet manager.

You document the first time you ask about that damage and whoever told you to aww run it.
So 1700 miles later here you are being chewed out. Provide the doggie chew toy the name and position of the person who told you aww run it.
The next damaged trailer you see, you take it to a shop and do not move until it's fixed. Or find a undamaged trailer for the load.Trucker61016 and lovesthedrive Thank this. -
I should mention all damage is at a minimum months old. I pick up a pre loaded trailer and now it's problems are all my fault.

But I knew I was gonna be late from the start. Either #### way they would have had to transfer the load to a new trailer. I'm not stupid it didnt matter if it happened now or at pickup.Trucker61016 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
You are not going to find any driver photographing new damage. The next driver will be left to pick up the trailer damaged and all. That's you.
No one will want to sit in the shop losing mile pay waiting on fixing. Im pretty sure half the trailers in any company has some damage because all the drivers simply neglect to have them fixed.Trucker61016, roshea and Mooseontheloose Thank this. -
Every time I get another trailer I inherit everyone else's problems.
Lights
Tires
Brakes
No registration
ABS. . that's the most common one.
I leave a great trailer... and pick up junk.
I always find the problem within 2-3 min of hooking to it, so you KNOW they knew the issues when they dropped it.
I tell my GM all the time..
"this crap will stop when you go back to the last person that pulled it and hold them accountable".
It's MY time.Trucker61016, roshea, Mooseontheloose and 2 others Thank this. -
I can see now I dont work with grown adults. It's all just over sized children.
I own up to my mistakes, i got no problem admitting i messed up. This ain't one of those times.
Now every trailer issue will get sent to dispatch on the people net. No matter how minor. After my 1 year is up I'll be leaving. If I get called into HQ over this I'm quitting on the spot.magoo68, JonJon78, Midnightrider909 and 1 other person Thank this. -
roshea and Chebbydriver7195 Thank this.
