I had an air bag replaced at a TA once. Took him about 30 minutes. Min charge was for an hour so I had him replace my rubber hood bumper which I had. They added on $25 for that. I was like what's this charge for. They said for replacing the hood bumper. I got pretty pizzed and refused to pay it. I told them if I'm paying for an hour that mechanic is my ##### for an hour

My Weller 10 speed reman was $6,200 last year installed. Just transmission, no clutch. Took them one day. No more bungee cord holding shifter in 9th gear on bumpy roads.

I do understand where you are coming from but next time you have any sort of service performed on your any vehicle ask before they begin work what the srt time for the job is and anything more than this is malpractice granted they do not have to replace an unquoted part the perform the job reliably. This is how flat rate techs make their living. Say a clutch job pays ten hours and the tech completes the job in 5, he gets payed for the ten hours and you get charged for it but on the flip side if if he takes 20 hours you get charged 10 and he gets payed 10.

Thank u for the tip.i've been dealing with a local shop for seven years and really cant complain about their rates, they may charge me extra but when i need repair or service performed on my truck they drop everything and work me right in,also they let me pay big bills overtime.the problem is when something happen over the road and under a load, lot of shops take advantage of the situation and theres nothing i can do about it.two years ago in boston a two mile tow and a fuel line cost me $1270.

Had a tow from a fresh laid asphalt parking lot years ago that cost me $700 bucks to move truck ONE FREAKING FOOT!!! Was loaded with 43K pounds of pork and all my wheels sank about 6 inches. Found out later, the people had asphalt laid in lot after two solid weeks of rain. Them towing companies are making a killing!!!

Go price out a heavy duty wrecker and the insurance required to operate one and you may think different.

You people sit in a seat holding a steering wheel and live in 350k houses, and ##### like old women about what people charge that actually work a back breaking job. I bet you are proud when someone asks and you respond, I’m a truck driver....
