    Nothing in writing just 25 years of experience and practical first hand knowledge of encounters with the dot. Sure it can be argued that they were just being nice and let me go, but considering that a couple of those encounters were with the hardasses of the hardasses trying to set the record with how many different tickets they could write in one stop....if it was a violation i would of gotten it.

    So when the regulatory agency in charge of hazardous materials says it isn't allowed, you doubt that? At least don't park next to any placarded loads when using a propane stove, thanks.

    Ill stop parking next to tankers when rvs and campers stop parking next to tankers and when other trucks stop throwing lit cigarettes out their window while parked next to a tanker.

    Here is a question, if propane is considered a dangerous good and not allowed in a truck then why is it you can purchase add-ons to run a truck on propane and not be considered hazmat or even have the endorsement?

    Propane injection has been a thing for decades.

    They answered this question in that guidance that I quoted already...

    "The stove and its respective propane tank is not considered “auxiliary equipment” in that “auxiliary equipment” in this definition means that the equipment must provide supplementary or additional help and support to operate or maintain the motor vehicle itself, not equipment for the purpose of heating food for passengers on the motor vehicle"

    That quote is in reference to a guy Thay wanted to shop a bunch of propane tanks to a chili cookoff event. Do you result think a guidance about freight transported for hire applies to a guy having a couple small canisters to cook up a few eggs in the morning?

    No, that one was about a commercial motor vehicle, the other was about air travel. Maybe you should close the valve on your propane tank? Sounds like you're sniffing gas to me...

    I have never had the urge to cook in the truck, however I do carry a single burner colman propane stove and a couple of bottles inside the truck. I also carry a perculater for coffee, works much better quicker and makes better coffee than any electric model. I only use it if I am stuck somewhere I can't sit at a table and have a waitress bring me coffee and my thermos runs dry, but it does get used, you just have to be a tad smarter than the burner, not to burn the truck down.
    We also carry a 20 gallon propane tank on the catwalk some in the winter to use a weedburner to heat up stubborn landing gear when we need it, there is NO law against it until you get over a certain amount of pounds.
