I’d recommend my company Saia but everyone is afraid of the cameras. If their hiring down there we hire generally what we need. Plenty of work. You’ll work and run 6 days. They’d love that especially on the weekends.

Yes there is 1 postion hiring for line haul in the Dallas area, which I plan to apply for but wanted information before wasting mine and thier time. I can care less about the inside cans if someone wants to watch me pick my nose cool haha

Haha! Yeah they don’t monitor it like that. If they did I think every linehaul driver would look like we have a screw loose. Guys here can make 100k+ easy running system board here. So they pay you to deal with it.

Old dominion is probably the top company, as far as how many of their employees love working there. UPS is the top paying company, you can make upwards of $150k/year running the road with them, thanks to their new contract. UPS is union.

At Estes, there are a few drivers at my terminal who came from FedEx Freight, which is another good gig. One driver worked for them 16 years and claims that was the best job he ever had, but then turns around and says he like Estes more.

Extraboard/Linehaul is what I am doing. The work is never guaranteed. You’re given a day to start during the week. It’s not Monday through Friday, unless you’re senior. You might start on a Friday night, work through Wednesday morning, then take Wednesday & Thursday night off. Then the process repeats itself.

You can volunteer to stay out longer. Right now, the freight is starting to pick back up, so you should be able to run and stay out 6-7 months straight, if you’d like. There’s one guy here who did that last year. Made over $120k here at Estes.

I saw you mentioned SAIA, and I’m here to tell you to stay the hell away from that place. You can’t talk on the phone while driving, even on a handsfree device, you can’t talk on the CB, and they have driver facing cameras watching you.

When you get to ODFL or Estes, maybe even ABF or FedEx Freight, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the job. Run Linehaul until you can build up some seniority, and you can get a Linehaul gig which runs out and back and be home daily, working 5 days a week, off weekends, and still make over $100k/year. Sometimes, you could get lucky and get this setup soon after you’re hired. It all depends on if the terminal has any runs for you, and how large the terminal is, etc.

    Best of luck

Not sure if the rest of the country is busy but out here west we're DEAD SLOW. Sat home 4 days waiting for a run got a short run today. Lots of talk about layoffs and dispatch struggling to find loads and sending out empties like crazy
