Trashed the crank and debris everywhere. Getting a long block. Not our truck, local one though.

We can idle our frameless up. Just depends on PTO ratio. When it gets harry it is best to stab throttle to get load out.

SAR, Oxbow, KVB and 2 others Thank this.

Engine pto's are nearly allways from the factory.
Gearbox ones can be both, factory or aftermarket.

Pumps and oilbox are all aftermarket.
Dealer installs them on new trucks.

Havent seen a broke crank yet. Seen bad cams, lifters turning in the block trashing the block, spun bearings, piston cooling jets plugging wiping out a hole, air comps grenading taking out the crank, headgaskets eroding into the block, liners sinking in the block, valve seats falling out and valves wearing into the head.

SAR, Oxbow, KVB and 3 others Thank this.

They all have their quirks. When you work for the dealer you tend to find out the weak points when you see repeated, common failures.

Feedman, SAR, Oxbow and 4 others Thank this.

I've never actually seen an engine mounted PTO on a truck (unless you count a driveshaft bolted to the front crank pulley). Any of the transmission PTO's I've seen are either Muncie or Chelsea. Pumps are a pretty wide variety. Lots of different applications and flow/pressure requirements. Most complex system I've seen so far is a hydrovac.

Oxbow, 98989 and daf105paccar Thank this.

Seems like the MLS head gaskets are more trouble than they are worth. Ones on Cat C13 we're same way. Last two if have used aftermarket graphite head gaskets. IPD and Interstate McBee both offer one.

SAR, Oxbow, KVB and 3 others Thank this.
