Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

I have said it in the past and i will repeat it,overhere we cannot complain about Daf(Paccar) in regards to recalls.

When my '15 was new i complained that the toolbox door (just behind the drivers door) had trouble closing.
Fast forward 3y,so all warranty on the toolbox door is long gone,the welds on the lock broke and the hinges bend beyond repair.
Filled a complaint thru my dealer and all parts were refunded.(i did have them note the problem when i collected the truck when it was new)

 

Not all mineral oils are the same of course, and you can be lucky.
However, even mechanics often don't understand very much about motor oils. Not too long ago I saw one in a TV program explaining that for car engines, you only have to take care that you use the proper viscosity. That is very wrong, the oil has to be certified by the car manufacturer. A 0W-30 oil for a BMW is not necessary the same as a 0W-30 oil for a VW.

DAF specifies a full synthetic motor oil. Kroon oil (@daf105paccar will know them) offers three synthetic motor oils for DAF engines, with very explicit recommendations about how long to use them under the different conditions.

Mobil prescribes Mobil Delvac 1™ LE 5W-30 for DAF engines.

 

Any idea about the numbers?
How many have this issue?

 

Kroon oils says 75 000km with synthetic.
Daf says 90 000km with mineral.

 

Guess the factory messed up.

Don't know numbers.
I heard of a few cases, it does not seem to be a common thing.
But there may not be that many MX11's with very high milages yet. Not sure how long the MX11 has been around.

I wouldn't start to worry if I were you.

 

What were the symptones?

 

Hydro-locked after not being used for few days. Coolant in cilinder.

 

I'm not worried.
