By bypassing the escape ramp & continuing down the hill, he surely planned on killing people. What other outcome could he have expected?

You're kidding, right? What makes you think it was and "old truck" issue?

Thats the type of situation as a driver u always have to have it in the back of your mind... God forbid it ever happens to us... Lose ur breaks coming down a mountain in stopped traffic , what are you gonna do? Ive always thought about that myself , and i would take my life and my truck to the ditch or anywhere but into the parked cars... Run that ####ing thing off the mountain before u run it in to stopped traffic... Its easy to sit here and say that, but its something that always should be in the back of your mind as a driver... #### happens fast out here... Me i dont wanna sit and rot in a jail cell for killing innocent people because i was to scared to die myself... Be safe out there drivers

    Yes, I agree with you.

But this guy avoided a runaway ramp and then moved over to the far left lane, nearly taking out a pickup truck.
I guess the front left brake could have grabbed at that exact instant and pulled him over that way, but...

I read in the story that a homeless man was present when this occurred and actually jumped into action and went and started pulling people out of cars and helping them and getting them away from the scene.
I read that in a few reports I'm sure there was a lot of confusion and disorganization on the scene thank goodness someone was there that had the presence of mind to help as quickly as possible there may have even been more deaths involved had it not been for the actions of that individual.

I guess we seem to dump on the homeless way too much. There is no telling what they did before becoming homeless, or what their true character is even being homeless.

Or that most panhandlers aren’t homeless at all but are just out there earning $20/hr tax free.
