@AModelCat wrote that his Ford car needs new oil every 8000 km, at which I replied that my car needs an oil change every 20,000 km or 2 years, whatever comes first.
And no, I would never put mineral oil in my car. First of all, I know that this particular engine absolutely does not like mineral oil, and secondly saving $20 over two years is a bit daft when you know that synthetic oil is vastly superior to mineral oil.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

You have a car and burn fossil fuels?
Cat sdp, spsauerland and KVB Thank this. -
I do, but I hardly use it. You see, I've found a very novel way to do my shopping, I walk.
If I have to go to one of our major cities, I take the train. Much cheaper, much more relaxed, I don't have to worry about parking space, traffic jams etc. wonderful.
So I rarely need my car, it's just there for all those journeys where a car is more convenient. -
A look into the future.
Hate it or love it.
Gives you a idea on how far things will change in trucking.spsauerland, 98989 and Oxbow Thank this. -
By the time you reach 90,000 km, you will have added some 10 litres of fresh oil over time.daf105paccar Thanks this.
-
He actually said he puts in up to 15 Litres, between services.
This equates To 44% of the Oil fill capacity.. In My Eyes I consider that excessive..
@daf105paccar have you considered just Changing the Filter @ 90,000Kms & just keep adding Fresh Oil??sdaniel, Humblepie, daf105paccar and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just for a bit of perspective:
The Netherlands is is approximately the size of the two largest counties in my state, and about a fifth the size of the entire state. The Netherlands also has roughly 10 times the population of my State.
Things are likely to be done a little different here..........thank God.SAR, sdaniel, spyder7723 and 6 others Thank this. -
Nope.
Daf says it needs to be drained.
I might look into putting a rotary filter ,depending on what soot levels i have in the next oilsample.
I wanted to buy it with a rotary filter when new but that option was not availeble to me.
Can you get a MX 11 with a rotary filter straight from the factory in the USA?(i know that the MX 13 has that option,my old truck allready had it)haycarter, spsauerland and Oxbow Thank this. -
Do higher and higher compression ratios and subsequent increased blowby
have much of an impact on consumption? I would imagine so.SAR and spsauerland Thank this.
