Exactly, he needed to use that ramp regardless. The only reason I brought up google maps in conversation was that it would have served a purpose in foretelling the traffic jam ahead. (obviously set up in pre-trip)
More disconcerting (besides all the other mistakes made) is the fact that this young lad didn't have a good command of the English language and thus might not even have known that there was a ramp.
Anybody witness the fiery crash in Denver involving a trucker?

Yeah that is disconcerting. I'm pretty sure they have escape ramps in mexico though.

But maybe that didn't matter to him (if he understood the ramp was there), seeing as he had little value for others lives in the end and thought only of himself.rank and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Runowayo Trucko Rampa is pretty close but I see your point. Probably couldnt read the signs telling him to use a low gear.

They get these guys to learn enough english to pass but six months later they dont remember any of it.

Yup, also he was Cuban. Probably never drove a truck in Cuba or ever seen a Spanish sign for truck ramp. Who knows? Just amazing series of **** ups to get to that tragic outcome. I'm sure we will get more details as time moves on.
