If you knew that not all the load would fit why even break open a compartment? When I hauled fuel if you knew the load wouldn't fit before you hit 90% you called it in. 9/10 we were told only drop if you can get all of that compartment off. If not the whole load or what was not broken would be diverted. This saves alot of headaches with not having to figure out what is left, all the billing can be done precisely and no messing with high alarms and flappers.

Ok thanks. I talked to one of their driver and he said he has gonna have a spot open in a few weeks. Its 1099 and its 24 p/h straight time. I have no tankers experience so i dont think its that bad what do think from your experience?

That doesn’t sound like a very good deal. $24 and hour straight time only and 1099 won’t be much

You want a good reputable company that all others will have respect for. Then it doesn't matter about pay or benefits because you're there for the experience and to move up in the gasoline field. If you're really looking to make a career out of the gasoline business then training is one of the most important aspect of hauling gasoline. After at least one year then you can start looking for the company you'll want to retire from. You'll have the experience that most companies look for and you'll have a job when you're waiting for an opening.

Of course you'll have to keep a clean record with no accidents, cross dumps, or tickets. You'll need to be perfect so your record will be outstanding and no other driver can bump you out. I'm not saying hold out for the best job there is, what I am saying is find the company that keeps their drivers and has the best opportunity to move up and get the best for you and the company. Along with a training program that has your best interest as well as the company at hand.

The business will go back the way it used to be. Where the driver is an ambassador for the company and hopefully looking sharp and professional. If you're lucky you'll find a driver at that company that knows how to project that image and will pass on the information needed. When that happens you'll wonder how you got to where you're at. Welcome to the gasoline business.
