I never knew my wife's dad, I got along great with her mom before she passed.

My wife has always gotten along with my family and them with her, even my dad before he died even though I have/had nothing good to say about him.

The whole dynamics of my family changed for the better, IMO, after my dad died for me. Unfortunately, my own father was the one I had the most problems with and he with me because I was so against him for reasons I won't get into here.

That's why it's so nice to hear and watch stories like @Oxbow and @Lilbow 's and others on here that did get along with their fathers, it's something I never had nor will I ever have and I make sure everyday that my son and I do have that. So far it's working pretty good.

Sorry, don't mean to derail from Mom's day.

Seems you are right! I didn’t pay attention to the holes. Although that wouldn’t have mattered, I’ve never seen one like that. Looks an awful lot like a dry wall hammer. Learned something new today.

There’s usually two ways a Man will go. If Dad was a good guy, we wanted to be like him. If he wasn’t, we went all out to be better than him.

Either way, we can grow to be manly. The problem is, without a good example, we end up making big mistakes in just about everything we try to do. Oh well, education is always a good thing.

Not sure if it’s been answered or not CKE but it’s a Roofing hammer! The holes on top are used as a guide for over hang measurements! I referred that type hammer as a Finger or Thumb tenderizer!

I never knew what the holes were for.

I carry one in the tool box - can be useful for trimming/modifying dunnage.
