Idling effects MPG bonus right? Just trying to figure out the best way to keep and cook my own food while taking advantage of maximum bonuses. I guess freezer packs?

Yea it goes against, all the oc’s have a ice machine and I’m close to one every other day so me and Coleman(my cooler) are usually cool as ice lasts around 4 days for me. I also got a 12v fridge off amazon that works really well. Haven’t tried to cook anything but I normally get a bunch of fruit from sams and some fresh sliced lunch meat..

I've been looking at these https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Large-C...+for+coolers&qid=1557782972&s=gateway&sr=8-11 to keep fridge cool on downtime. Obviously, I'll need a decent freezing compartment to get the icepacks to the proper temperature, but these look like they can keep a fridge cool and the freezer frozen for a few days.

That could work I don’t know how long this last vs how long you would be staying out and also could you set it up on the road. My set up is

Coleman Cooler | Steel-Belted Cooler Keeps Ice Up to 4 Days | 54-Quart Cooler for Camping, Barbecues, Tailgating & Outdoor Activities https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009PURKE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zXH2CbAWMWEJ5

Coleman strapped to my front seat

Smad 12v/110v Fridge Refrigerator Domestic Portable Mini Cooler,1 cu ft https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073H2HKL6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kZH2CbTZHVCJV

Fridge fits in the cabinet and works as a 12v plug in but I got a 50$ inverter to use it in its normal mode.

+5 dollar 6 gallon bucket from Lowe’s for ice..

I’m usually out a week or 2 and I typically only need ice every 3-4 days.. fridge was plenty of room for the and condiments and stayed cold if I had to turn it off for the night.. but I mainly ate and snacked on fruit

Picked up a trailer from Basf with a tire that that had a whole the size of a golf ball in it...

Nothing more frustrating than being held hostage by the guy that pulled up at the fuel island to take his 30 when there’s a lot of parking spaces

Hey meech, do you have any thoughts on OTR vs regional? I was thinking a regional job out of Indiana would keep me out of Keasby for the most part which is my primary goal starting out. I have to switch my residency to Indiana though which is kind of a pain in the ###.

Well I’m regional out of the Gary OC and I’m in southeast Michigan I mainly chose regional cause of the flexibility. You can get weekly hometime unlike Otr, However I typically stay out 2 weeks, but whenever they say freight is slow or I get stuck I request that home time. Also if I need to make special occasions I got the time without them saying “you just got out. There’s no rhyme or reason to whose getting the new trucks if that mattered.

    1. How often do you want to go home? I typically stay out 2 weeks but I have the option to go home weekly mainly why I picked regional. Plus the more you talk to your dbl the more you can run. From my experience
    2. How far would you be from a park location? It relates to question 1. The main wash off 94 about 10 miles into Illinois and the Oc is off Cline Avenue 94 exit 5.

Hometime isn't all that important to me, but from some of the OTR stories I keep reading, I think I might actually get more miles with regional. Do you have limits to where they will typically send you? I know you've said you've been to Keasbey a couple of times. I think I can handle it on occasion.

I actually don't know what their parking requirements are for tanker. I can legally park a tractor-trailer at my home, but I assume they are more particular for tanker.

Also, for some reason, the Indy regional tanker job on their website says it pays up to $.61/mi and every single other Schneider tanker job that I could find across the US says it maxes out at $.59. Maybe it pays $.02 more to start? It's something.

I keep watching this youtuber's videos "MelsonWithTrucking" and he always seems to be getting ####ed over by dispatch. I think he's averaging <1,500mi/wk for OTR. Crazy. I think complaining about NJ might be the key.
