Would you participate?

Okay so we have had MANY threads about cheap freight and those brokers that seem to promulgate it. Furthermore, we talk about those carriers that seem hell bent on hauling cheap loads/cars because “something is better than nothing” (which I happen to totally disagree with).

Question is, how can we fight back? I have discovered that those of us who care about the service we provide (carriers and brokers alike) tend to cherish one thing over all others the most, our reputations. We don’t want to get a bad reputation under any circumstances.

That said, what if I started and website whereby brokers and those who solicit car haulers to move their freight are rated, and it’s us the haulers that publish info into the site?

Exposure as someone who solicits car haulers with cheap freight is about the only way I see that something might change. Encouraging carriers to leave those units where the sit until the price reaches an acceptable rate.

That site can be advertised to the entire Central Dispatch community and those brokers that do this will likely understand they’re on the list, or might be inclined to look. Yes I know that as long as someone is willing to haul it they’ll keep posting it, but across time I could see it making a difference.

Them just knowing that they’re on a list as someone who consistently publishes cheap freight and that carriers are encouraged to NOT haul their freight just might start making a difference. Never know until it’s tried.

Im willing to do the website and pay for it but I want to know would you participate in populating it?

This wouldn’t need to be done if Central would just add a selection to their rating for “underpriced freight,” but we know they won’t do that, even though Im going to suggest it.

Actually I don’t care about the driver, or telling them. It’s about an idea of exposing cheap brokers in a way that tells them we know who you are. It’s about them getting bad publicity. Right now they’re on central and that’s not a open public venue. Not going to say something that isn’t true, but they will know they’re being exposed for who and what they are.

But you could be right.

 

Grow up? Haha. Pretty ballsy statement considering you don’t know me from Adam. And for you to suggest that a broker doesn’t promulgate cheap freight isn’t a very educated statement. I suggest you educate yourself by looking up the meaning before coming here and insulting me!

You’re not seriously suggesting that brokers who post cheap freight are telling someone “I think I can get it moved for $0.20/mile.” They are “promulgating” cheap freight!

 

Yes I do certainly get what you’re saying. The best way to combat them is through central but we know Central will never allow such an option. But thank you for your intelligent responses. Exactly what Im looking for.
