Oh no! That's terrible. Who could ever want to not do anything and get paid for it! It's not like you get a share of the revenue so why would you care?

    skellr and jtaran06 Thank this.

Oh, this a touchy subject. In all my years, I was a union driver ONCE for 1.5 years. It was for Brownberry Foods, now Bimbo:biggrin_2559:.( how'd you like THAT name on your door?) It was clearly the best trucking job I had, but I worked for many good non-union jobs, so that's not cut and dry. In my other 33.5 years, I never worked with a more whining, cry baby bunch of drivers, I thought they were kidding with their silly demands at these stupid meetings. Eventually, the union drivers got forced out by outside carriers, and I believe all the union drivers had been let go, but I quit long before that. It wasn't for me. From experience, I don't think the union did a darn thing except get those drivers fired.

Who is providing a service for whom? What is the long term effect of shafting a customer because it's "break time". Or did I misread your post?

I'm not a Walmart driver and I have no idea what's going on but you have my support. It's worthless but I wish you the best of luck

I, being a new driver, can also agree with some of you veterans. Went to grab a last short load yesterday on my home day, only to find the trailer had 2 brake shoes with chunks cracked out of them. Needless to say, by the time I got the shop to look at it and decide to flag it for an evening repair, I was too short on hours for another run and was out approx $90 for the day...just because some ####### was too lazy to do a 5 minute post trip. I NEVER expected to see things like this at Walmart after all the hype I have heard about the fleet over the years.

As far as bringing the Union in, it would more than likely seal the fate of the Private Fleet and 3rd party carriers would be running the show. Just my opinion.

I got approx 40 mins UT, but by that point, I only had 2 hours left and not enough time for another quick run after I would have gotten dispatched, pre tripped etc.

If Walmart drivers vote in the Union they will just end up out of work. Walmart will simply hire more subcontractors and the union workers will be at the union hall saying how Walmart screwed them, in reality they will do it to them selves.

I was a driver for Rite Aid here in Lancaster, I voted against the union , but no matter the union was voted in, And then all were laid off and SWIFT gladly took over the store deliveries, and after SWIFT came CR England who has the contract now, the union drivers, well dont know where all the guys went, but it was not back to Rite Aid.
