Do not go off bulkloads load board. There's a lot of garbage on there with very few gems. If you really want to run independent, get setup with a large carriers, they all broker loads out. I could name 4-5 that would keep you busy. Then work on getting your own freight and use the others to reposition.

I think that’s the best term I’ve heard of. I really dislike the term backhaul.. to the op with your own authority the top the end dump carriers from at least this forum will all gladly be your broker for a fee ranging from 10% to as high as 12%

Take your pick. That's a great area for any of them.

do you mean like US Bulk, Page, Bones, Warwick, and US Transportation? Those are the ones I am familiar with. Is there any more? I'm not too familiar with OTR bucket carriers since I just run fairly close to home. Also, do you know if they broker hazmat loads, and if they do is it worth the hassle and added expense to be able to haul hazmat under my own authority? Thanks alot

Yes, both page and US Bulk haul haz. Bones does not, I'm not familiar with the other two. As far as running hazmat under your authority, no. It's not cost effective. Hauling hazmat requires a $5,000,000 liability policy and that's not cheap. Last time I asked my broker, it was $45,000 for a year. The lads don't pay that stupid money. If you want to haul haz waste, best to just lease on to one of them.
