My 18 w9 was down to 4/32 on my left steer, so new tires tonight and getting an alignment in the morning.

    295/75r22.5
Came with Goodyear's from the factory with G rated. G399 LHS

Just put on a set of Endurance LHS with H rating.
I dont know if it's the 2 additional ply, the 120psi (instead of 110), or what...
But holy crap batman, she rides soooooo much smoother now. What gives?

    Omega1 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Idk. I wouldn't even use a set of Goodyear steers for a tire swing. Never ever EVER have they worn right for me. Garbage. I am a fan of their drive tires however.

Have your Kelly’s checked for round. My last set where out of round. I will never ever own a set a steer Kelly’s again. I thought I had other issues, i would never had thought a brand new set of Kelly’s would be defective. Until I finally had them checked for balancing on the truck. The tech said, “Holy cow, I’m surprised your fenders are still intact.” I bought a new set of Firestone’s on the spot.

Still had 9/32 on the right one.
My original drives are still at 16-17/32
    141k on the clock.

Seriously though, brand aside, would 18ply vs 16 make that much difference? It's like now she rides like w9 should. When I say it was bad before, I mean it was HORRIBLE. Since day 1 she rode like a Honda with cut springs on factory shocks. Now it's like new ram with a 5link setup.

I've had Firestones do that to me too, I'm going Michelins all the way around, tires aren't the place to pinch pennies.

That ply. Think on it is armor. More ply, tough tire.

Ive been eyeing some 12 plys for my little tahoe, a few more dollars but possible wont rip or tear in winter. It's a few more ply than necessary. But that's me over engineering things.

Just a question . 4/32 on left steer tire 9/32 on right steer tire ? I think you said you were having an alignment done on front end, the difference between the two tires sounds like other problems .

New steers always make a huge difference in the ride. I would not contribute it to H rating because it will be stiffer tire.
You said 18 ply vs 16 and I think you meant 16 vs 14. I always buy 16 for steer and trailer (spread axle) and usually drive but not always.
