What is the name of the job that has somebody drive back and forth to construction sites in a dump truck pulling a trailer with construction equipment on it? How much money do they make? I'm talking about f350 dump trucks to f650 dump trucks (non-cdl)... What experience is needed to get a job like this?

Usually, that fella has more than one job. Driving to/from the job. And whatever else they need him to do. Most I've known operate the machine they haul.

But some larger construction companies do have guys that just deliver machinery. They're called truck drivers as far as I know.

I can't think of a combo w/a 1 ton & up pulling an equipment trailer that wouldn't be over 26001 GCWR. So that means class A would be required

The pieces of equipment are smaller like mini excavators, scissor lifts, and skid steers on a 12-16ft tandem axle single wheel equipment trailers... The truck would be a f350-f650(non-cdl) dump trucks

Your not getting a mini on a single axle, our 17,5 gvw tilt deck hooked to my 9000 gvw 1990 srw f350 is still considered a class A vehicle

    npok Thanks this.

I'm talking about a tandem axle trailer( not a dually type of trailer) and a 90's f350 diesel and either a skid steer or a mini excavator... I'd believe that its a total gvw of 19,500

I think your trailer might be a little light. Remember that gvwr doesn't mean payload. A 4 ton machine on a 4 ton GVWR trailer is a no-go.

You also mentioned a dump bed. Did the truck's rating change?

Without knowing the actual numbers, all I can say is that maybe your 1 ton will stay under the CDL limit, but an F650 will definitely require a class A.

No experience if they need someone and you are willing. Pay will depend if you are in a right to work state or union!!! Also are we talking road construction or building construction.. right to work 12 to 14 entry level union 18 to 22 probably depending on if road or building

The need for a class A CDL depends on the GVWR of the trailer. Anything over 10,000 lbs GVWR needs a class A. No matter what the GCWR is.
