Oh, the "booting". Wasn't sure if I qualify or if................. You're one of the officially designated HPTA monitors, remember? (yep, actaully drafted. Sorry) Oh, and that's the hypothalimus/ pituitary axis thing that's rears it's ugly head under certain circumstances. Feel free here too, as you know I need it and you're a trusted soul!!! Nice to here from ya too, but I think we drifted from post :biggrin_1square10:

Sorry, I miss read your thread, thought you had a 3406e. No check valve. Do you have any white smoke when its running. I had a customer with an old farm truck that he pulled out after sitting and it ran rough with white smoke. I thought the timing had slipped, checked it and it was ok. Check his fuel and it had that dead smell. Ran the engine out of a bucket of fresh fuel straight in to the transfer pump and it cleared up. Drained the tanks and fill with fresh diesel and problem was gone. Fuel was bad from sitting in the hot sun to long.

Just a little bit of smoke when it first starts. The fuel really shouldn't be more than 6 months old. I am going to try a couple things tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the advice so far. I am no mechanic, but this truck is going to make one out of me yet.

i read somewhere that the new low sulphur diesel only has a shelf life of 90 days and anytime you let the truck sit for a period of time you need an additive
