When I was there they used to apply that charge to the balloon note.

It's for the freedom, nothing more, nothing less. I go where I want when I want to go there. Since leasing my 2nd truck (some people never learn) I've been home every 7-10 days. I service my truck where and when it needs it, I buy fuel where I want to. I will NEVER see the inside of bus again as long as I drive my own truck. Oh, don't try to tell me it's "not my truck", It's as much my truck as somebody who bought one from a dealer and pays a monthly bank payment.

I made more running mail from Phoenix to Des Moines and back ($.53 a mile, 3,000 miles a week) but my DM was a lying SOB! I'm making about the same as running a bulk tanker in AZ, but that was HARD work! Don't get me started about my short stint as an academy instructor in Phoenix.

It's not for everybody. Unless you have firsthand experience with Swift and IEL don't try to tell somebody what they're up against. I knew Swift's/IEL's shortcomings and I came back anyway. Sometimes it's the "devil you know vs the devil you don't know".

Considering swift has the say and can pull your truck out from under you. It's really not your truck.

You don't get to keep it or take it anywhere to another company

I got my truck new on Nov 1, 2018. Has just under 68,000 miles on it now. To date I've changed my primary fuel filter @ 18,000 for $45.00 (it was a nasty shade of green), a full PM (minus the fuel filter) @ 30,000 @ TA for $371, and another PM @ 60,000 @ Kenworth (with fuel & collant filters) for $363. No more PM @ TA/Petro for me! To date that works out to less than $125 a month. Obviously doesn't figure in tires.

I have $.10 per mile deducted, it goes into my maintaince account and it's MY MONEY to do with as I see fit. I pay all of my maintaince out of pocket as I want NOTHING to do with Swift shops. It's also simplier than getting a PO and having it taken out of my maintaince account. I keep a minimum amount in my maintaince account for emergencys. I can transfer it to a weekly settlement for $0 or put it on my Comdata Mastercard for $5.

You're correct. However, it's not in their best interest to do so unless I don't keep up my end of the deal. Swift/IEL DOES NOT want the truck back early.

If you miss a payment on my truck with the bank they will take it from you as well.

And if you continue to beat this dead horse you'll just get sore arms. :)

They're not worried about their best interests
Someone will be all too happy to fill in.

When I leased my current truck I had a list of used trucks to chose from.

IEL is making a lease payment on every truck in the fleet whether it is leased to a driver or not.

    Aren't your arms tired yet?

You assume they would just randomly decide to terminate a lease. No more so than if a bank randomly decided to reposess without cause.
