Hate to do it guys (way moreso than you hate to read it) but you have to see the whole picture to make informed choices.
This week was a bust. With the repair cost and downtime I'm posting a significant loss this week.
I was only available to run from late Wednesday on and only got one load.
Feather meal from Cuthbert, GA to Portsmouth, VA
Load pay $1363.50, $1227.15 after broker.
The triangle of miles was:
Home to Cuthbert: 440
Cuthbert to Portsmouth: 750
Portsmouth to Home: 330
Total: 1520 miles
Fuel: $525
Leaving: $702.15
Less Truck/Trailer/Ins : $695.75
- $25 for payment wiring
-$18.16
- $903.00 for Truck repair and towing:
Total for week:
-$921.16
As an interesting note, I was going to have another run back to MN for the weekend with cotton seed, but after I slept for 5 hours I learned that this guy that loaded me last time had unexpectedly been deported that day:
TRUE STORY! So apparently INS cost me even more lol.

-
Next week will be better. Try to get a load to Michigan. I will buy your lunch. If someone had bought your lunch this week you would only be $915.16 behind.
PharmPhail and Baack Thank this. -
Tough week! Unfortunately part of the averages: bad + ok + good + great =????
Just curious, how much of this stuff moves on the weekends? I usually run 3 - 5 weeks, then home. Would hate sitting most weekends. I won't be ready to do anything until August. But am finalizing the business plan and budget. Your experiences and info is proving most helpful. Even with nearly 30 years business owner experience, trucking is tricky but, doable. -
Pawnd Thanks this.

so how was the movie.we were out on my boat Shark fishing last night and figured i would see how the trailer thing went..Walt
-
Yeah I was watching Monsters Vs. Aliens. I answered because we were the ONLY ones in the theater. If you see it, you'll know why. It was pretty blah.
Tried calling you back a couple hours ago and left a message. Were you picking up the trailer this weekend?
That sidejob was put on hold. -
I took my son to see it, he loved it, but I fell a sleep half way through!!!LOL.
Had a good nap after eating the po[pcorn. -
rob did you get the tarp fixed? Walt
-
Yes, that SUCKED. It was cold and very windy and I had to jump up on the product and drag it back onto the tracks and get it closed with the wind fighting me. Not the best experience and I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Got it figured out though, everything looks to be ok. Luckily this was one of the only times it wasn't raining today at the spot I was at. Half hour later I'd have been looking at a cargo claim.
