Not anymore they are pretty open. But yes the older ones do get a little cramped.

Your uncle knows what he is talking about. The seat of the chair should be horizontal, or with a very slight slope downwards to the front. There should be s space of about two fingers wide between the rear of the knee and the seat. The upper and lower legs should be at an angle of 90° to 120°. The backrest should be at an angle of 95° to 115°. Of course there should be lumbar and shoulder support. When you stretch your arms, the wrists should touch the upper pert of the steering wheel.

These were after-market solutions, there are several companies offering adapted seats.

It is really simple, we are different shapes and sizes, set the seat for your comfort, not what anyone else thinks about it. I have short drivers, and tall drivers like myself, and everything in between. Arguing about the seat height, backrest angle, how far ahead the seat is slid, means nothing to another driver. I am tall, probably in the top 1% of males. If i go to a function and 100 people are there, often I am the tallest person there. So lets say i take my shortest driver with me, she is a full 13.5 inches shorter than I am, but I tell her okay, we are going to take this W900, I will drive there, you drive back, but you cannot readjust the seat, or mirrors, it would be ridiculous!
Caesar, set your seat however you wish to, and stop telling others what works for you. Nobody gives a crap what works for you!!!
I'll assume you are short because you need your seat set to maximum height, nothing wrong with that if its how you want it. That would not work for me. The end!

379 unibilts are not integral sleepers. They can be removed just like the older ones. The main difference between them is the opening between the sleeper and cab is much bigger, but still keeps the seat from going any farther back.

Now im even more confused by your previous post. You are right there isn't a lot of leg room so only a very short person would slide the seat forward to safely operate the truck. Also from the pictures i posted we all see that even with the seat all the way back, lowering the seat all the way has a very limited effect on your visibility of the road.

What I wrote has nothing to do with body length, it's about basic ergonomics. Those setting are for short people as well as for tall people, they do not depend on body length. When you're driving a truck, then your body has to endure a lot (shocks etc.). If you're not sitting in the right position, you may damage your back and pelvis in the long run. Sitting in what you think is the most comfortable position, is not by definition the best position. That is what a manufacturer of truck seats will tell you.

I'm not short at all, 6'1" is quite average. How you came to this conclusion "I'll assume you are short because you need your seat set to maximum height" is a mystery to me. If you're short, you have to sit low, if you're tall, you have to sit high.

Yeah I know integral sleeper is a Kenworth term. The unibilt has plenty of legroom for tall drivers was what I was saying. Now if he's talking about old 359's with a corvette dash and the likes, yeah those don't have much leg room for tall drivers.

Gotta remember you're talking to someone who, from what most of us gather, has never driven a truck. He seems like an intelligent fellow, but he doesn't seem to grasp the reasons that our trucks evolved so differently from theirs.
