Yeah, a bit of a grind.

I would love the 03:00 start time. Easy miles. well, exept for the Volvo drivers with misaligned fog lights to compensate for their screwed up headlight design/materials. :D

so...i just retired from a job i had for nearly 8 full years..(dedicated account too)

started at or about 8PM mon-fri

home at my house...by about 4:30-5AM daily (so about 8 to 9 hours nightly)

pick up my loaded trailer at the d/c center, make 5 deliveries with pickups at the same place,

mosey on back to the d/c center.

    about 300 miles round trip.

cleared over $1,200 weekly.....(salary based pay) got paid whether i rolled or stayed home due to bad storms....can you say that..???

extra work if i wanted it, and i always refused the extra work.

good luck with your new gig......

Why. He has a darn good deal. Makes $300 a day and the hardest part of his day is cranking landing gear.

OP good for ya, enjoy it while you can. As others have said, it become monotonous after a while. I did the same for a little over 8 years. Start anywhere from 8p-1a out & back. Anywhere from 200-650 miles in a night. Loaded out, empty home.

Stay away from the office politics & you’ll be ok.

Sounds like a good deal. Personally I didn’t get into trucking for the scenery. Seeing different places is nice but it doesn’t always payout. If boredom in doing and seeing the same thing every day equals a good and CONSISTENT payday with home time in there too? Sign me up for boredom. I pull doubles at FedEx running from Nashville to Texarkana 5 days a week dedicated. Not getting rich but making a good consistent living. Could go home every day but I live a little too far away so I stay all week and head home every weekend. And about a month away from bringing my wife on with me.

I did a line haul for a while, 2 loads a night from Madison, Wis. to Milwaukee. At night, you didn't even get the same scenery, and after about a year, that was enough, and this, coming from a guy that burned circles stockpiling in a gravel pit with a dump truck. At least there, I got to run a loader too. Now, my ex-gf did the same thing for a different company, hauling mail, 2 loads a night, Madison to Milw, started at 3 pm done at 3 am, everyday, and she did that for like 12 years. If you want any kind of home life, it's a good deal.

I can handle boredom if the money is right and it’s steady/dependable.

Similar to my run but I do 500 miles.

Most important thing is to get good quality sleep!

My only pet peeve doing drop and hook is that you might find trailers with flat tires, air leaks and so on. I hope you have better experience.
