Pretty nice bonus. How slow are you having to drive to obtain that?

Loaded 55 - 57. Yea, I know its slow but whatever. Right lane & watch you pass me lol.

I really piss you off when I drive 53 empty

We are governed at 60mph so I'm not losing much ground.

In addition, $550 bonus for 11,000 miles in 30 days. Its very doable.

I do Atlanta to Laredo and back once a week. I could spit and hit the Rio Grande right now. Never had a problem.

Ok lets do some math here.

Lets say you do 56, halfway between 55-57. Let's say you run 10 hours a day.
I run 68. for 10 hours a day. So I do 12mph faster times 10 hours. I do 120 miles per day more than you. Multiply that by 30 days in a month. That's 3600 miles more a month I put in than you.

Now I don't know how much you make a mile but I'll be honest and say I make .47cpm. So in one month I theoretically make 1692 dollars more than you do. (3600 miles X 47cpm).

So you're a rolling roadblock chasing a 700 dollar fuel bonus that I make up more than 2 times that by simply running the truck and not causing people to have to swerve to avoid me. And my truck has a brand new tripak on it that I don't have to climb out in the heat, cold or pouring down rain to make it start.

You can add your 720 and 550 bonus and even take miles off of me and we're breaking even at the very least. And I don't have to drive like a pawpaw.

Are you sure you want to do this?

For everyone that's anti idle here to hit a fuel bonus. Do you have any idea what the gph is on your truck while idling? You might be shocked to find out how little fuel you will use idling for your 10. I know this always isn't a option because of local laws in some places (PA no idle diesel trucks over 10k GVWR if I remember correctly and I think NJ has something similar) and some of you have some pretty neat add ons you have made. I would be curious to see if anyone has any hard data here...not what the interwebs said or what your fm said....hard data. I do have some....my Cummins,,,6CT uses between a third and a half a gallon of fuel an hour while idling , I measured this off sticking the tank and measuring fuel usage off the port with the computer. Let's say you double that at worst because my engine is only 8.3L you would be at 1 gph. 10 gallons of fuel to not have your scrotum sticking to the seat with sweat sounds like a good trade off to me. You could also slow down from 53 to like 49 and probably save it all back too. How many miles do you average daily? How much would an extra 10 gallons a day hurt your fuel bonus? Is that amount of money worth suffering in the truck for? I sweat my pp off at work (welder) but I don't have to live in it, I get to go home and shower. Take care of yourselves out there drivers....you don't (shouldn't) have to sweat your ball bag off living in a truck for a bonus.

Yes LOL. I can, have & am smart enough to do the math comparing all you drivers who drive 65, 68, 70mph. I fully understand the mathematics.

I will average $.50 - 59 cpm & stress free driving in the Midwest in the right lane on cruise control.

If I was driving a company truck and getting paid per mile, I'd drive as fast as the truck was capable of going. And if it didn't have some sort of APU, I'd idle it for AC.

However, I make the payments on this truck, I buy the fuel, etc. Driving faster doesn't allow me to take any more freight. I have a set run that lets me spend a couple of days at home every week. The run can be done in a slow and steady manner so that's what I do.

In search of that elusive 9 mpg, I started doing the math at the pump when I'd get close, but no cigar, "how many less gallons would it have taken to crack 9?" That's when I started turning the key off at every opportunity... and it worked! You'd be surprised at how much a little bit here and a little bit there adds up. I can hit 9 on a regular basis on the light end of the trip now.

@lilillill What you're not taking into account in my circumstance is MY company is HUGE on fuel economy. There is an entire bonus system placed on it and a Competition Cup which offers additional bonuses & company points to purchased things such as Gift Cards. They preach Fuel economy. And tbh, we are splitting hairs talking the diff from 57 & 60(gov speed).

I'll get that $150 A/C solution rigged up & let you know how it goes. I just need a handful of days to get to it.

Those require a big inverter and they typically draw double the watts of a comparable window unit a/c.

Just being limited to 56mph would be stressful. How do you keep from going to sleep?

If you get $0.06/mile fuel bonus, that means you get around $0.45/mile before. If you drive 60mph instead of 55 for 11hrs, you will earn roughly 6X as much just in mileage as your fuel bonus

Oh my gosh. Its actually the most relaxing, comfortable drive possible. I'm planned, know where I'm going & when I'll be there. I stay awake because I got good rest on my 10 previously and I wasn't stressed drivving 68, & I know I got that fuel bous LOL.
