Crete Carrier Corporation - Lincoln, Ne.

Discussion in 'Report A BAD Trucking Company Here' started by Driven Crazy, Sep 12, 2006.

  1. As a trainer, I check up on the trainees after they get out on their own. They run good sometimes and sit sometimes, depending on the area they are in. They are not stealing all the miles from us more long term hands. Freight is slow for all companies right now. Yes, Crete is changing. I know it is human nature to resist change but it's pretty obvious to me at the age of 49 that Life is made of change. We can go kicking and screaming or embrace it, but life will change.

YOU FORGOT.... If YOU can kiss ###,,,,what is it you consider whining? just sitting there being quiet is not an option and that came from kerry kearl in a round about way....YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO SEND A BUNCH OF MESSAGES, THE EMPTY CALL KINDA SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, YA GOT SOME DISPATCHERS THAT ARE ALL OVER IT AND SOME WHO SEEM TO BE UNABLE TO KEEP UP...IT SHOULD BE SIMPLE, DO YOUR JOB...WORK WITH YOUR MANAGER... AND IT TAKES 2 TO COMMUNICATE, I SEND 2 MSGS..AFTER THAT (USUALLY 2HRS LATER) I CALL MY TERMINAL. IM TO OLD TO BE PLAYING THESE HIGH SCHOOL GAMES WITH A DISPATCHER WHO HAS NEVER DRIVEN OTR BUT IN A ROUND ABOUT WAY CONTROLS WHAT MY CHECKS GONNA BE NEXT WEEK.. AND ALL THESE COMMENTS ECT ARE EVERY SINGLE BIG COMPANY OUT HERE... IM PRETTY LUCKY... BOTTOM LINE A JOB IS A JOB...YA WANNA CAREER,,BUY YOUR OWN TRUCK (AND THAT WOULD BE SILLY RIGHT NOW) LOL

    lol your so pretty

  5. You are right in that some of the dispatchers are better communicators than others. I particularly like it , in Tx when they let you know how many trucks are ahead of you. When they do not communicate well, it would benefit you to communicate better than they do. Instead of getting upset over the check back in an hour or two messages. I check back after the first hour and let them know that obviously freight is slow and that I am sure they are doing the best job they can, and will get me a load when they can. Just shot the ld offer to me when you find the freight. That is supposed to be one of the advantages of qualcom, is that you don't have to run out in the rain to wait in the line for the payphone to call dispath to see if you have a load yet. I am guessing the dispatchers that keep sending a msg to check back are old school dispatchers that have not fully adapted to the changing World just yet.

I certainly don't have a dog in this hunt... The only thing I'd like to do is work for Crete in some capacity when I am able.
I don't know if anyone on any of the Crete threads has had the opportunity to sit in Lincoln at their dispatch and just watch. I think anyone who can, should. It will be an eyeopener. Any doubt a person would have about what they do or any paranoia about being singled out or whatever, will disolve after a very short time. You may not want to believe it but these people work hard. If you think of how many drivers and trucks Crete has on the road vs. the number of dispatchers, you'll understand why they are busy. Maybe sometimes too busy to chat or reassure you, that they are working to keep you going. In tough times like this, it's actually harder to be a good planner. You are worried about keeping drivers busy while worrying about the customer. No one, and I mean no one wants to be the reason that a company has lost or jepordized an account. There are way too many dogs fighting for the same bone.
PS "the checkback" is old school LOL and everyone should be glad to know you have some old school dispatchers there.

  7. I have not had opportunity at CCC but have at another company back before they had to worry about schizo truckers going in to shoot the dispatchers. The last job I would want is to be a dispatcher, the driver is whining at you, the carrier is prodding you, aand the customer is prodding you, TO MUCH STRESS, for me. I have heard how many trucks they have per dispatcher and understand why they can be abrupt at times in thir communications, they don't always have time to be as friendly as they should.

  8. I know, scary huh! My thinking is that if you see me at a truckstop, and recognize me, you can make the judgement call, based on agreement or disagreement as to whether to strike up a conversation and what subjects to bring up or avoid. I also believe that it helps to avoid the problems of anonymity that can arise on forums, more so on the unmoderated ones if everbody has profiles and pics.

Yuppers you are really right on target. Lots of things coming from all different angles and that is a cause for being a "little" stressed and maybe a little abrupt. Can't take is personally though. Dispatchers are trying to keep drivers moving and freight picked up, the two most important things. Then all the other things they do that are NOT frosting on the cake. When I dispatched I never ate my entire lunch and what I did have wasn't at the temperature it was meant to be eaten at. LOL. Did I mention cold coffee? :biggrin_25525:

I've been at Crete for almost 14 years, I am sitting here wondering if there is two companies out there named Crete. Obviously that is sarcasm, I am a truckdriver,
I make good money(over 60k three years in a row), I get home when I tell them I want to be there, in case of emergencies, they have broke their backs for me to get home before, my paycheck is correct and on time 99%, in case it has been wrong, it is fixed on the next check(very rare), I, just like the Shaffer driver mentioned, run compliant, I don't have a problem with Cretes point system, I do my job, legally, and don't get "bad" points, when audited, I usually get good points, I used to get a new truck every 200,000 miles, that has changed, I got this truck new April 20, 2006, the odometer currently reads 449075, i did the math for you, 12137 miles per month, my pay rate is 47 cpm, which is Cretes top pay rate for drivers. Obviously there are some morons who work here, some non drivers, some are drivers too. My biggest complaint over almost 14 years is the maintenance dept., with very few exceptions, our maintenance dept. is horrible, maybe worse.
