I need more info. Transmission, gear ratios, mileage, any verifiable work done to either engine, idle times on both, etc., etc.
I'm in the same situation, myself. Finding some Detroits and some Cummins in the same year range. I do like a good Detroit, but the Cummins is a widely used motor as well.
The motor is a big part of the truck, but don't ignore the big picture (everything behind the motor). The entire drive line from radiator to rear axle matters. And it all costs money to repair.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
I wish Peterbilt still had an option to order it with a Detroit.
mrbucbuck Thanks this. -
Detroit, Cummins have cam and fuel pump issues from 2006 up to the CM2350. The jury is still out on the newest X15, they look promising.
-
I would go with a Detroit out of those two choices.

2015 isx would be the cm 2350 I believe.
Keep fuel pumps updated, it's really easy to do. Do egr tuneup, lots of info about Cummins out here, YouTube will bring a lot of info.
Far as I know anything with 700k on it and no overhaul yet your lucky. From what I heard on like on the cm 2250 and up.
Could be same with Detroit. I'll just say I have 613k on my isx cm 2250 now. A 2013.D.Tibbitt, mhyn, Midwest Trucker and 3 others Thank this.
