I can't understand buying new fancy trucks for $200,000. Just driving it off the lot the value drops so much. Find a used truck with 100,000 miles and figure out what it cost them a mile depreciation.
My old Freightliner has 1.2 million miles on it and runs like a champ. Another 100,000 miles isn't going to make a hill of beans difference on the value as long as I keep it up at this point.
Of course I'm not cool though. I believe if you really rationally analyze it, you'll find that being cool in most every part of life comes with a high price tag.

Since when we went back in time when trucker was king of a road"??? More and more places like Walmart banning trucks to park overnight, more and more places have " no public restroom" to us when we deliver something to them. Look on any parking lot at truck stop it's full of garbage. Now you fancy truck means FOR PUBLIC that you looser who have no real life , and was not smart enough to finish IT or some kind of university.

Impressing you or anyone else isn’t even a factor to me. The only person who has to like my clean shiny truck is me. I take pride in what I do, and I feel good when everything is clean. Believe me, when I have the chance for a 3 hour nap and I spend 30 minutes of that wiping the truck down and juicing the tires I’m not doing that to impress you.

That old blue W9 of yours was sweet. I oughta follow in your foot steps though and get a new truck. My 95 W9 is a never ending problem. Never breaks down, but there's always something wrong with it.

Many different variables. You covered them. Actually in this business(trucking) a person can use a less expensive trk and do quite well. Each person has a different outlook on how to do it. Same with cars, buy used take care of it and you can drive inexpensively. Jmo.

Jealousy will get you nowhere. Life is to short to drive a ugly truck. Some folks their life is their truck, you don't have to agree. You don't understand..that's okay. Just don't cut them down. No one cares, you say? You don't care is what you mean.

I have to say that folks with pretty trucks do irritate me when I get stuck behind them at a truck wash with no dedicated washout lane.

I can, intellectually, understand wanting a pretty truck, but when someone else's pretty trucks make me sit in line, wasting drive time or making me late, for two hours... I get grumpy.
