That's probably the "dock to driver" program. That's usually for people with only a cdl permit.

I would really like to get on with OD , I think I wouldn't mind the hour drive to get to work if I had a good job.

P&D work can be harsh on those knees. Loads of shifting involved with local work.

Yeah would be great to find a drop and hook dedicated route with an automatic and all the bells and whistles and make tooooooo much money but I guess I might have to settle for what I can get. :(

That's why I like us getting auto's at work. I don't need a standard to prove my manhood like some...
I just look around work, see all the 20 year guys out on leave for knee replacements and really don't want that...

Yeah my knees are shot from crawling around on airplanes for 25 years.
My Harley is a 6 speed with a hand clutch, I can still handle that lol
I could drive a manual if I had to but would prefer automatic.

P&D work is LTL...just local work. Getting good solid work with no experience for a linehaul route will take some time. Lots of LTL drivers....LTL forum....could give you good info.

I agree with you....When I came back, I wanted a manual, all I ever knew prior. BUT.... I have to admit, when the knees and hips age, in rush hour traffic ( pick a major cluster F area ) its like heaven.
Many moons ago, I was taught to skip shift, so a 10 spd was a 5 spd....than started to
"float" gears ( I think is what it's called today ), yet in heavy traffic, I still had to keep my left leg raised and ready to clutch in stop and go traffic.

Though there have been times I've thought of getting a plunger and place it next to my seat, to rest my right arm on....

I thought LTL was going farther away and P&D was in town / close by.
    Good info.
