Because I don't haul flatbed and i know better than to haul what appears to be an expensive ### CNC machine open to the weather, and in his post he claimed to know what does and does not need to be tarped. He not only didn't get the 350 dollars to tarp it, sounds like he's either going to get a serious insurance claim or be paying a good chunk of change out of pocket. Either way it's really no skin off my dick, I was just wondering how he claims to know what does and doesn't need to be tarped but doesn't know to enough to tarp a precision milling machine of some sort.

Life lesson #5799.
When loading a $300k piece of equipment that only lives inside a building. If the shipper writes "Load left untarped".

This was destined to be a nightmare from the get go.
Now fingers are pointing in every direction, but where they should be. All because inexperienced people thought they could get a good deal and take what looked easy. That’s everyone involved. Now the fun begins, except it ain’t so fun. Everyone in this looses.Humblepie Thanks this. -
Let it go to court.
The minute the judge reads it was not a tarp load, he will dismiss their frivolous lawsuit, and award you your bill for hauling. Consult a lawyer if in doubt. Occasionally I send a link to my BIL who has been a lawyer for 27 years, and ask what he thinks, because he enjoys it. He read this, and said its a slam dunk. Altering the terms of the contract is what can get you sued, and the other side a win. Following the contract, they may try to sue, but will lose. Make sure to include your legal costs, and missed work revenue in your countersuit.pavrom Thanks this. -

Tarping painted machinery isn't that easy. The tarps will easily rub the paint off the equipment if you don't put some padding down. it doesn't take much. Maybe that was the issue?
Some small press or whatever that isn't as wide, no problem. but something that wide close to the "wake" is right in it.
