If you get turned down or for some reason you don`t get hired on @ Wal-Mart, can you still apply for another driver position at another DC? And will they let you go through the on-boarding, etc again?
Let`s say a driver backs into a trailer during the alley dock test & they send that driver home, what are the odds they would let him come back in six months if he applies for another driving position at another DC?

Are they having a hard time finding drivers for the DC`s in PA & IN, i noticed their still open? Most of those openings have been listed since the first of June.

 

DC's in those states are taking on more freight so they need more drivers.

 

Can i apply to more than one DC at the same time? Is their any benefit to applying to more than one DC?
I`m thinking about applying to the two openings in Texas, two in Indiana & one in PA.

 

just apply to the one you want the most. every dc is different. like little sheriff offices.

 

I was watching a few "drive4WM" videos on youtube & the most common thing drivers get sent home for is not being able to shift & backing into trailers. Can any of you new hires comment on this, because i did read in earlier post that WM will help you when it comes to shifting & proper backing techniques.

 

One driver applicant that I spoke to during on-boarding didn't make it because he was struggling mightily with shifting. Not just run of the mill gear-grinding...rather he nearly stalled the truck in an intersection because he couldn't get it in gear. Another guy backed into a trailer on the backup test on 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. So here is the thing...if you make it to on-boarding, and you haven't driven a standard transmission, or backed up a 53' trailer since the Eisenhower administration..you may want to get some practice in before heading to Bentonville. Although the people at Bentonville are extraordinarily friendly, they're not there to teach drivers the basics of what they expect. They expect you to know these skills before arriving there. Not trying to dissuade anyone from applying or give anyone doubts about what to expect or what they'll encounter. If you are confident in your driving, and careful during the backing tests, most drivers will do just fine.
