The highest I've recorded over a week is 6.8 mpg. But, I pull the max weight EVERY time. That week I had almost 40% deadhead though because I did a repeat run over and over 4 days that week.

Usually I get 6.3 though over the week. I shudder to think what I'd get in a hood pulling this heavy. :biggrin_25512:

I use 3/4 gallon per hour idling.

So I bought a can of coolant with the hose already attached. The compressor clutch was not kicking in, and I must have looked pretty clueless shaking that can for nothing since a true knight of the road came over to help.

This guy was all over it, pulled out a voltmeter, checked the fuse and relay for power and ohms, checked out, but no power at the compressor... so couldn't rule out lack of freon. said the clutch was a bit loose probably losing freon there.

Anyway, he made a wire and clip and jumped the compressor. I was able to get 2 cans of the stuff in and it took it all, but alas, it still won't run on it's own :biggrin_25516:

I offered to pay him of course and he said no way. Used to be truckers helped each other for nothing and that's how he still is... we're both out here just trying to make a living. He pulls his own reefer and on the side in big letters is SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDEPENDANT AMERICAN OWNED BUSINESS.

It's such a pleasure to meet someone like that out on the road!

Back to reality, I'm still screwed :biggrin_25510:

If you ever get around this way, W.C. Wagner Trucking of Basset, Va, THANK YOU!

Guess I'm gonna hunt a hotel. It is unBEARable in this cab right now and I wreak!

Do you think the disparity between the weights is around 0.5 mpg?
