underestimating how much money you're going to need vs how much money you think you'll be able to continue to earn

It’s not cost effective. For a driver that makes 20 or 21 an hour, it costs you about $32 or $33 an hour. Also, it’s time and a half after 40.

The few that have approached me and fave quotes said that’s not negotiable on time and a half. So even at 18 to the driver so call that $30/hr, then 45/hr after 40, it’s still way too much money. I think they target companies who have their own trucking that moves their own products. Home every night, and they can afford to pay more for drivers because it’s still cheaper then outsourcing. Just speculating there.

I just know for a small fleet that’s local, regional, or otr hauling general freight it doesn’t work for. That’s been my experience.

    Hahahahahahahahahaha
    $30/hr is not too much.
Its a reasonable wage...as is $45/hr for overtime.

See how long you can profitability run a for hire fleet paying 2500 to 2700 for the driver every week.

Do you know what a Tri-Haul is??? If not I would consider another business venture beside trucking.

Also consider home time not all drivers will stay out 52 weeks of the year and not all drivers like to go home every weekend. I personally like to take 7 days off after 5-6 weeks running

That depends on what part of the country you are in, any fleet here has to pay that much and more.

    Hey wait a minute.

People working for temp agencies are desperate?

I worked for one and I and my fellow drivers were not desperate.

The company I worked for paid us a starting wage of $25, they charged double of what we were getting and they had and still have a lot of work.

We were paid ot over eight.
