    Interested in some feedback from other members here.

    I've had someone approach me to haul water for them offroad here in BC. They're wanting me to install a 4600 gallon slide tank in my tandem dump and shuttle water from a reservoir to feed lots, about a 5km trek one way, relatively bumpy ground so I'd be crawling in 2nd or 3rd, which they're aware of and ok with.

    The main concern I have is with weight. The truck is legal here at 26,100KGs, and weighs 10,800KGs with me in it. The slide tank will weigh 2,500KGs so I figure being able to carry at least 3,300 gallons legal. They've asked if I would be willing to carry full tanks for an added bonus. I'm calculating 4600 gallons would put the truck right at 31,000KGs, which is quite a bit overweight.

    The truck is configured with 46k rears and a 14k steer/front airbag leaf helpers. To do this I'd be installing a 20k steer and a second gear (truck needs it anyways). It's a single frame truck with air bag suspension.

    How heavy is too heavy? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know it's overweight and am not looking for criticism on that point, more suggestions as to how far I could consider compromising.

    Capacity
    F/A = 9,072 kg (20,000 lbs)
    T/A = 20,865 kg (46,000 lbs)
    Total = 29,937 kg

    Weight
    Truck = 10,800 kg
    Tank = 2,500 kg
    Water = 17,413 kg (4,600 US g)
    Total = 30,713 kg

    Difference is 776 kg and the load is distributed... Give 'er! (just drive carefully ;))

    ETA: This is the truck with the repaired frame? Just keep an eye on it, drive carefully; no hard starts, stops or hits and I'm sure you'll be fine. You were going to retire the truck in a handful of years anyhow, right?

    Thanks for the feedback. Glad to see I'm not far off with my reasoning.

    Yep this is the truck with the repairs done to the torque arm mounts. So far they've been fine and no new damage, and mostly I've been hauling broken concrete for the last few months
