I usually don’t have to put my rear trailer away, depending on what time I arrive. If I get to the hub early enough, the hostlers will grab it as soon as I take off with the front trailer and dolly. Same thing when I get back to my terminal in the morning. I could probably get away with dropping the whole set, but I want the full 30 minutes of pay for breaking it, and I’d prefer to keep my dolly.

Yes, we are on the clock as soon as we arrive at any terminal. But the problem is the next guy may have places to go himself and loads to attend to----remember the 14hr clock....

My previous post is somewhat of a harsh reaction, then again, it's not. There are other examples, but i don't want to single anyone out.

We really are on a woman-hiring spree.

Generally, we only put the lead trailer in a door, but some terminals do not have a full time jockey, or any jockey at all. And they request both trailers in doors.

Yes, what we are saying is if you are female and you want easy money/paradise then get your butt down here to ups or upsf NOW.

(Note: Not so easy if you're dock supervisor. i'm talking about linehaul driving, p+d driving at most terminal, clerical positions, managerial positions that don't involve dock [although we'll still bendover backwards to make it easy for you if you DO work as dock-supervisor], dispatching etc.

Further example: If you're a woman and you do niteliner and you don't want to work the dock-----THEN NO DOCK FOR YOU!

i apologize for outing anyone, but i want to tell it like it is as always.....

i should add, as a follow up, that every woman/girl/female i've worked with here at upsf has done a very good job and is a pleasure to work with except one.

In the two specific examples, where they didn't do the normal amount of work, they are still generally pleasant to be around, they just ended up doing less work. i just want to clarify that.

    1) Had to stay in hotel once for the last check. i think last tuesday in Bethlehem, pa.

    2) While i normally drive a volvo, and have gotten used to it to point i'm overall happy with it's performance, although i don't like volvo, on the rare occasions where i drive one of our new kw 660's, it's clear that the kw is put together MUCH better and it's like the volvo is made out of cardboard.....

Yes. The KW is taken, naturally.

i actually prefer my volvo because of the manual trans----all incoming, new tractors have automated contraptions. To me, it's much easier to line up your dolly and to backup in general. As a linehaul driver, you are not shifting that much anyways, so the supposed "less work advantage" of not having to shift is negligible.

My preference in tractors goes as such:

    Pete>Volvo>KW

I prefer the 579 layout and better visibility over the Kenworth. Volvo ranks higher than the KW to me for a perceived smoother ride.
