Its addicting at first but when you realize the only thing your doing is eating, breathing, sleeping with your job on the brain It will get to you. I burned out after a year regional and kept my eye on the better long term companies. Ended up sticking it out another year before i made the switch.

Honestly now I enjoy life more. Get to see the gf and kid longer than 34 hrs on weekends. I know she hates me being on call but does enjoy me being around more. I have energy to take care of the honey doo list and hop on the motorcycle, pick up the guitar or partake in other hobbies vs recharging what little time i use to get on the weekends just to jump back and do it all again.

Depends on the job. I am what they call a utility driver so sometimes I do deliveries which can be just dumping pallets on a dock or actually stocking coolers at a store but most of the time I run a line haul which is drop and hook for the most part. Sometimes I gotta help load or unload my trailers if they are short handed. Food service guys fingerprint everything for the most part and that's why they get paid so well.

Im seeing these Ltl checks and rolling over, I was at PFG for 6 months and never made $1,500 per week lol. $1,300 was most I seen. I'm intrigued on ltl.

Were you straight hourly or incentive pay? I know a lot of the guys killing it at McLane are incentive pay so the faster they can chuck boxes the more they can make and/or go home earlier.

Hazmat, doubles, tanker, endorsement. Some what clean record.

City p&d is city delivery. Bump dock or unload by lift gate. Pallet jack to door or curb side. M-f day shift.

Linehaul. Mostly nights. Schedule can be all over the place when first starting. Most companies it’s all driving and drop and hook sets. Pays the most over city p&d.

If your coming from Foodservice you’ll think this is too easy. Then you’ll laugh at the people that complain especially since you did Foodservice and they don’t know how easy they got it.

Like foodservice, better pay comes with better runs in LTL, and it's mostly based on seniority. I took a pay cut to make the switch, but it's slowly getting better.

It's a very good life. As long as you aren't at a company that wants to work you to death like my last company, I highly recommend it.

I have been in LTL since 2007, across three different companies. Well... My current company is LTL adjacent. Not truly LTL.

Best move I ever made for me and my family. Even if I did waste a little too much time at the company that wanted to work me to death. Haha
