I said driver facing cam. Forward facing is all you need..it tells the whole story..I am all for it.. If the camera sees you eating a bag of chips when someone pulls out in front of you does that help you even though the other driver is at fault? It sure doesnt.
And yes a driver facing cam in a truck you live in is an invasion of privacy. How to avoid this..dont work for these companies! If you agree to it well then, that's on you.

Theres a huge list under Companies using driver facing cameras. Your gonna have to go work for Jo Blow to avoid the driver facing cameras.

Joe blow. You mean Swift? Because they no longer have them. Outward only.

Now I wouldn't work for Swift personally but there are many options out there that do not use driver facing cameras. Magnum LTD comes to mind as having forward facing only and at two or three hundred trucks in the otr side is also still a reasonable sized outfit. In my recent job search I would say less than 1/3 of the companies I contacted had driver facing cameras.

For those that love driver facing cameras. I challenge you to name one situation where the driver facing camera helped you and the outward facing one did not?

Outward facing cameras are good. My new truck will have two of them. Mine and the companies. But it will never have a driver facing one.

Forward facing tends to have impossibly tight parameters, and the safety department WILL penalize you for both driving like you own the road and driving like you don't own it. It would be fine of it were just a CYA in the event of an accident, like any other time you install a dashcam in a vehicle, but most of these ####### companies use it as a gotcha for breathing, and assign disproportionately heavy penalties to the driver as a result FOR NO REASON.

Driver facing... period. Swift tells me they don't use the driver facing lense, but I trust that as far as I can throw my tractor, so it got the black tape treatment.

Those are nothing but an anti-personnel weapon that’s discoverable in court proceedings.

Out of sight, out of mind, AND out of court.
