First off, hi to all. I recently, not by choice, ended up having to change jobs. I'm working for a great family that started a trucking business several years back , but I'm contracted so no health insurance. I'm wondering who or where I can go to get some decent insurance for the family and me. I definately don't make anywhere near what most drivers make, but were simply people and don't need the big bucks to live. Any help will be appreciated as so far Health Markets and IN government hasn't been much help. Thanks in advance and see ya all out there. Be safe.

    If you're a military veteran try www.USAA.com
Work for a union company and get excellent health insurance and cheap rates.

Not veteran and I'm not a union type person. I actually prefer the 'little people's company's or mom and pop ones. I'm tired of working for big compo that say they care about you then in the end are only worried about the all mighty dollar.

I have no idea what this health insurance is. Never had any. Last checkup I had doc did not like my triglycerides level being over 400.

Benefit of being a 1099 contractor is no benefits. Being a company driver, Owner operator, or 1099 all have good and bad things. Just have to choose what is best for you. For me good health insurance at a decent price and steady work were the most important. That's why I'm a company driver. I also don't have to work on the equivalent and when the day is over it's over. I go home.

I have to. Had back surgery a couple of years ago and as young and crazy I am when I'm not riding it's a necessity. Lol

I do agree with you, but I've actually got it pretty good. Like I say we're simple people and don't need much. The place I'm at is where I'm needed and it seems to be where I usually end up. I'm Iust hoping to get some affordable insurance so I can keep doing what I'm doing.
