I have heard that possitions in Iraq are easy to get.Ive also heard the money is incredible but that comes with danger,Im sure most of you have seen the video of the trucker who was executed by insugents in Iraq last year.
I would like to hear from anyone who is or has driven in Iraq. Please tell me all you can about the living conditions, danger, type of work and of course pay. Also any info on companies who hire drivers to work there would be helpfull.
I havent got my CDL yet but will be attanding Road Mater in Columbus Ohio very soon.I just want to know my options in Iraq before I sign on with a carrier.Thank you for any help given.

Turn on your TV, all the time they are showing your american soldiers back home from Iraq. No arms or legs or fully paralized, that's worst then beening dead.
It's not worth any kind of money. -
I talked to a driver who worked over there
and was lucky to get out in one piece with
great money. Sorry I can't remember the details
but I would do a search on Haliburton and see
about if they would hire you. -
My brother in law is a truckdriver in the ARMY. These guys get killed all the time. He says that Haliburtons drivers travel in convoys and some of them are better armed then he is. He also said there is no defense to a road side IED and that is what kills most travelers.
It is a war zone, and if your just there for the money, I don't think it is worth it.GENXCHI Thanks this. -
I know way less about trucks than I do war. BIG TARGET!
-
I wanted to take my Glock .40 and my ar-15. I won't be going to any warzone without a firearm, bulletproof vest, and plenty of ammo. -
Actually, my brother in law said something about that...............he said no body paid much attention to it.
-
My Understanding is that once you get there you obtain weapons of choice. Transporting indivdual weapons to location is a no no from US to Iraq. My impression is that things are worse instead of better since the election. The insurgents are encouraged now that their friends are in power. Does anybody really know what is up? The guys I talk to that have been there two and three times say the media screws it all up.
-
Not that I would go, but what is considered "incredible money" for working there?
-
Not enough.......A friend of mine looked into it and I think it was $120K tax free if you stayed the full year. You can go to the railroad and make very close that kind of money and nobody will be trying to blow you up.
GENXCHI Thanks this.
